Sean Strickland, Theo Von, and MMA culture collide in a raw discussion about toughness, words, and what that posture really hides. We look at the viral moment, why it hit so hard, and how the fight game rewards performative cruelty even as it punishes vulnerability. We also talk about the Roundtree tweet and the hypocrisy charge, then separate empathy for a brutal upbringing from accountability for adult choices. The point is not to excuse, it is to stop confusing cruelty with strength and to argue for decency without censorship. If you value clear analysis on combat sports and culture, you are in the right place. Luke Thomas sits down with Wharton professor Zeke Hernandez to bust the biggest immigration myths, tackle wage‑impact fears, and explain how outdated U S visa quotas fuel illegal entries. Luke Thomas Gets Political on Joe Rogan’s influence on comedy and whether returning to his show would even be a real conversation, while weighing Marc Maron’s sharp critiques of the current comedy culture. Luke and Marc talk Rogan, Maron, UFC, culture war dynamics, and what happens when the jock vibe overtakes the art of stand-up. It’s frank, no fluff. You’ll hear why some of Rogan’s on-air habits frustrate critics, how “theater kids vs jocks” frames today’s scene, and why recycled anti-trans punchlines signal hack work rather than edge. We also kick around whether a direct, on-mic challenge would change anything, and why seasoned voices like Maron land so hard with comics and audiences alike. This is a clip from a longer conversation with W. Kamau Bell. Watch the full interview on W. In this clip, Luke Thomas joins W. Kamau Bell to break down the politics swirling inside the UFC — from being “in the belly of the MAGA beast” to exposing the influence of Donald Trump and Dana White. They dig into the UFC’s massive $7.7 billion Skydance–Paramount deal, what it means for fighter pay, and how political power plays are shaping the sport’s future.Luke explains why engaging with MAGA audiences matters, the dangers of one-sided media diets, and how UFC fighters remain stuck with just 15–20% of revenue despite record profits. Kamau connects the dots between corporate media consolidation, athlete exploitation, and a sport increasingly intertwined with right-wing politics. If you care about fair pay for fighters, the politics of combat sports, or the fight over who controls the narrative, you won’t want to miss this conversation.Learn more, and join in on the conversation on Luke’s Substack: https://lthomas.substack.com/Full interview available on W. Is Washington, DC really facing a crime emergency, or is the panic just political theater? In this clip from his recent live chat, Luke digs into the real numbers, his personal experience as a lifelong DC resident, and the difference between acknowledging crime problems and declaring a state of emergency.Luke addresses youth crime, carjackings, and the DC Crime Lab’s failures while also pointing out how the city’s violent crime rate is at a 30-year low. He argues that the National Guard patrols and military hardware on city streets are less about safety and more about a partisan attempt to undermine DC residents — who overwhelmingly oppose the move. From comparisons to the DC of the 1980s to a look at why locals still love their city despite challenges, this discussion offers a firsthand perspective that goes beyond political spin. Luke also calls out the selective outrage, noting that cities with far higher crime rates face no such “emergency” declarations.Whether you live in DC, follow national politics, or care about how narratives are weaponized, this is a conversation worth hearing.Learn more, and join in on the conversation on Luke’s Substack: https://lthomas.substack.com/Watch the full clip here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEzlPBGnIyA

The UFC’s rumored White House event is already stirring controversy, with major questions about who will pay the hosting fee. Will the UFC cover the cost, or will taxpayers be footing the bill for what some are calling a political spectacle? Luke dives into the logistics, politics, and financial realities behind putting a fight card on the White House grounds — from security costs and space limitations to the symbolism of such an event. This clip also covers why Luke believes UFC leadership is unlikely to take the financial hit themselves, citing their history of maximizing profits through government contracts. He draws parallels to past government “waste” cuts that left honorable veterans jobless, questioning the priorities at play. It’s a sharp critique of the UFC’s political maneuvering and a deeper look at what this White House fight night could really mean for fans and taxpayers alike.Watch the full discussion here: https://www.youtube.com/live/hQIGGLBOtts?si=sL7foSrB4hzdFsklLearn more, and join in on the conversation on Luke’s Substack: https://lthomas.substack.com/

Donald Trump’s latest attacks on Washington DC are more than just political theater — they’re part of a long history of federal interference aimed at undermining the city’s residents, especially its Black population. In this clip from a full interview between Luke Thomas and W. Kamau Bell, they break down the myths about DC crime, the impact of gentrification, and why the fight for DC statehood is about far more than local politics. They discuss how housing costs have skyrocketed, pushing longtime residents out, and how Trump’s claims ignore the real challenges facing the city. From historical segregation and civil rights milestones to the cultural roots of DC’s Black identity, the conversation digs deep into what’s really at stake. They also explore the connection between Trump’s targeting of cities with Black leadership and his broader authoritarian impulses — and why statehood for DC is essential for protecting democracy in the nation’s capital. The full interview with W. This is a conversation I’ve wanted to have for some time.
Kyle Kulinski is technically a left-wing political YouTuber and podcaster. In actuality, he is one of the most uncompromising and progressive voices in modern media. His work is admirable both for the courage that comes from his independence as well as the clarity of the purpose his brand of politics brings.

But these are challenging times. The right isn’t merely ascendant abroad, but at home, and the domestic version is growing more authoritarian by the day. The left is, at best, embattled and without a dominant party capable of being adversarial.
So, what, then, is a progressive to do? In this conversation, we discuss the limits of today’s left: who it is, what it stands for and what it can do. Yet, as Kulinski is quick to note, the real focus has to be on understanding what the right wants and what they’ll do to get it.
We discuss that plus the role and future of Joe Rogan, the purpose of Twitter in 2025, media strategies for message amplification, immigration enforcement and so much more.

Luke Thomas Gets Political: Immigration drives America’s prosperity, yet public debates are often built on myths. In this interview, Luke Thomas speaks with Wharton professor Zeke Hernandez, author of The Truth About Immigration: Why Successful Societies Welcome Newcomers. They explore data showing how immigrants boost investment, innovation, talent, consumer spending, and tax revenues — and why restricting immigration damages the economy, culture, and even national security.Hernandez explains the bipartisan misconceptions about immigration, the economic impact across generations, and lessons from past restrictive laws. He shares why framing immigrants as either “villains” or “victims” misses the real story: they are essential contributors to America’s future.Learn how the latest research debunks wage and crime myths, reveals the economic cost of mass deportations, and points toward a smarter, more adaptable immigration system.#lukethomaspolitics #trumpimmigration #usimmigration Full conversation on Luke’s Substack: https://lthomas.substack.com/
